The best exhaust system for your N/A 4.2L S5

If you jump into google and start searching for aftermarket S5 (b8-b9) you’ll get a lot of results on AWE exhausts…but wait! I was new to this platform, and my b8 S5 4.2L being my first car/project, I didn’t give my 110% research on aftermarket parts.

Milltek was a company I’ve heard before, so I decided to go with their Non-Resonated Catback Exhaust system. It was much louder than stock, actually too loud, and lacked “tone”. The worst part was the drone in-cabin, especially cruising at 60mph. It was unbearable.

I began my research until I came across APR, a well known Auid/VW performance company, who offered the RSC full Catback Exhaust System, which was also more expensive than the alternate shops I found. I got on forums to get feedback, but neither owners had that exhaust. There were 2 YouTube videos only…and they were by APR. It turns out it was a relatively new product for B8s.

One thing that stood out in their exhaust description was “eliminating unwanted in cabin sound resonance known as “drone“. SOLD!! .. Went with that, and it was the best decision. 100% no drone, and it sounded good…Too good! It almost had that Maserati GranTurismo-ish tone.
