The 350ci Experience
I knew what I was getting myself into when choosing to buy my 1968 Camaro SS Restomod, with the original 5.7L Restored 350ci small block. What I didn’t get right, was the extensive issues running a carbureted engine in hot & cold weather. The carb would either constantly choke and stall, when it’s hot, or take ages to crank in winter.
The suspension setup that was on it made it feel like you’re driving Fred Flinstones car. Exhaust fumes were unbearable, taking hard corners would throw you left to right…everything about this car was way beyond from being perfect.
As always, I start doing my research, reading, joining forums, and speaking with current owners for educational advice. I finally decided to transform my SS from Restomod to Pro-Touring. But first, I had to deal with the LS Swap.

The LS Swap Experience
Moving back from the States was a pain when sourcing parts over here. Very limited, especially on classics like these. Initially I began the build with an LS2 engine, but after the first run, the engine was no good. I had to re-plan the whole build and went with an LSx combo (different LS parts), which i will list below.
Fast forward 3 months later, I had all the parts fitted, and ready to role. A big transformation and difference, not talking power-wise, but comfort and reliability (and health-wise too lol). Fuel injection, no carbs, no fumes, quick starts and steady cruising…the SS was finally drivable & reliable. Most importantly, I did not smell like a gas pump every time.
