Wheel & Tire Setup

Lots of factors to take into consideration! Don’t buy tires, if you haven’t decided on wheels, don’t buy wheels if you haven’t decided on Brakes & Suspension upgrades, and don’t buy any suspension kit if you haven’t decided on changing spindles or tubbing your car. (DAMN!)

First, let’s focus on WHEELS. If you plan to get 18″+ wheels, you will, most probably, need a Disc Brake upgrade (11″-12″ rotors). (with 18″+ wheels, you have more tire size options, I’m on 17″)

Next, choosing your wheel size, which depends on tires, backspace, offset, future suspension upgrades, and if your car is tubbed or not. Doing this right will allow best fitment & no rubbing.

Recommendation on Wheel Size for the following example: 18″ wheels with a 1.5-2″ drop:

  • Fronts: 18×8″ , 4.5″ backspace, 0mm offset
  • Rears: 18×9″, 5.25″ backspace, 6mm offset
  • Tires: 235/40 & 275/35

My 17″ wheel setup on Ridetech StreetGrip:

  • Fronts: 17×8″ , 4.5″ backspace, 0mm offset
  • Rears: 17×8″, 4.5″ backspace, 0mm offset
  • Tires: 235/45 & 245/45
